Talcott, Susanne Professor


Dr. Susanne Talcott's research revolves around botanical compounds (polyphenols, terpenoids and alkaloids) and the impact of their metabolites on inflammation, cognitive function, and intestinal health. She primarily focuses on conducting human clinical studies to understand the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of these compounds.

Recently, the impact of bioactive metabolites produced by the gut microbiota on intestinal and cognitive health through the gut-brain axis has been of great interest.

Dr. Susanne Talcott is working on federally funded projects (USDA, NIH) and collaborates with the dietary supplement and functional food industry on health-related product claims that are supported by unbiased scientific evidence and comply with FDA- and FTC-regulations.
