abstract
The problem of stabilizing a first-order system with time delay was studied using a proportional-integral (PI) controller. A complete and constructive characterization of all stabilizing PI gain values obtained using a version of the Hermite-Biehler theorem were also presented. The characterization allowed to understand the relationship between the time delay exhibited by system and its stabilization.
