abstract
The introduction of the views of industrial/organization (I/O) psychologists regarding safety climate to the non-psychologist community is discussed. The I/O psychologists study human behavior and psychological processes in the workplace. Safety climate is defined as shared employee perceptions of the policies, procedures, and practices concerning safety. Psychologists realize that equipment and technical systems are essential for creating safe organizations. It is concluded that scientists and practitioners working on the technical elements of the safety should consider human behavior in their work.
