abstract
A lattice-gas model including intralayer and interlayer interactions is used to study the intercalation of lithium in graphite. The model is able to reproduce the characteristic staging phenomena observed in the formation of intercalation compounds. Three parameters describing the main energetic and entropie interactions are found necessary to reproduce most of the experimental features. 1999 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
