abstract
The effects of crystallographic orientation and temperature on pseudoelasticity and recoverable strain levels under constant stress are revealed for the Co-31at.%Ni-27at.%Al alloy single crystals under compression. The single crystals demonstrate a perfect pseudoelasticity at temperatures as high as 170 C, recoverable transformation strains of 4% along the [100] orientation and 2.5% along the [123] orientation, small stress hysteresis (<40 MPa) and high strength level against dislocation formation. 2004 Acta Materialia Inc.
