Fatigue and Service Analysis of Railroad Eyebar Members Grant uri icon


  • Insufficient knowledge of the fatigue behavior of railroad eyebars exists. As rail traffic increases with respect to both number of cars and their weights, the probability of fatigue damage and significant fatigue crack propagation increases. The proposed research will investigate the fatigue behavior of railroad eyebars through full-scale laboratory fatigue testing. The results of the research will provide a more accurate estimation of the fatigue strength of railroad eyebars and a better prediction of their remaining fatigue lives.
