Create a sustainable teaching and training pathway as part of your career and technical education (CTE) Program: An 8-component framework for educational leaders Webpage uri icon

abstract

  • Teaching and training pathways, where they do exist in Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school programs around the state of Texas, are starved for resources and support. While others have identified key ideas for effective CTE programs in general (Dougherty, 2023; Ferguson, 2018; Passarella, 2018), the conceptual framework offered in this white paper is designed for creating and sustaining grow-your-own (GYO) programs of study specific to college and career preparation for teaching and training. Dr. Val Hill-Jackson and colleagues (2023) present an eight-component GYO framework that provides education leaders with a practice-informed construct for creating teacher pathways within CTE programs in high schools.
