Metabolism of the systemic fungicides 2-methylbenzanilide and 2-chlorobenzanilide by Rhizopus japonicus Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Rhizopus japonicus convert the systemic fungicides 2-methylbenzanilide (BAS-305) and 2-chlorobenzanilide (BAS-307) into the corresponding p-hydroxyanilino derivatives (i.e., 2-methyl-4-hydroxybenzanilide and 2-chloro-4-hydroxybenzanilide). The structures of the metabolites were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometric analysis and confirmed by synthesis. Metabolites appeared with the beginning of the exponential growth-phase and highest concentrations were reached when fungal growth ended. 1972.
