BIOAVAILABILITY OF TRITIATED 2,3,7,8-TETRACHLORODIBENZO-PARA-DIOXIN (TCDD) ADMINISTERED TO HOLSTEIN DAIRY-COWS Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Holstein dairy cows weighing from 500 to 650 kg were given tritiated TCDD on crushed grain at a dosage level of either 75 or 0.05 g/kg body weight, per os. The higher dosed animal was killed on day 7 while the 2 lower dosed animals were killed on day 14. In both the high and low dosed animals, radioactivity was eliminated mainly in the feces, but also in milk and urine. The major portion of the administered dose was eliminated via these routes in the first several days post-treatment. Tissue residues were found to be the highest in fat, followed by liver, kidney, muscle and brain. 1987.
