abstract

• This NIH training grant supports postdoctoral training in the area of occlusive cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and degenerative disorders of cardiovascular tissues. Dr. Shireman has been a preceptor on this training grant since 2003 and has been the mentor of six postdoctoral fellows 1) Veronica Contreras-Shannon, PhD, 2) Sara Reyes-Reyna, PhD, 3) Yongxin Chen, MD, PhD, 4) Amanda Gonzales, PhD, 5) Desiree Wilson, PhD and 6) Federico Ghirimoldi, PhD. Dr. Shireman served on the Executive Board for this training grant since July 2021. She relinquished this role upon moving to Texas A&M College of Medicine.
