abstract
An overview is given of Jorgen Lund's contributions to the field of mechanical engineering. The most significant of which was his dissertation on rotordynamics. He showed an easy mastery of (very) complicated nonlinear analysis procedures. Specifically in his view, calculating nonlinear response amplitudes is fine, but amplitudes that were large enough to be nonlinear were simply too large for a practical machine.
