abstract
An overview is given of all currently available structural data for polyyne compounds. The major issues at the molecular level are bond lengths, bond angles, and sp carbon chain conformations. Averages derived from bond length or computational data are outlined. The title compounds exhibit slightly lower bond angles near the end of the chain. Nonetheless, pronounced bending remains possible throughout the chain, and six types of chain conformations are defined.
