abstract
The development of a mass flow rate measuring device, which uses a turbine rotor as a drag body, has recently demonstrated that the most widely accepted mathematical drag model of the rotor needs improvement. A new model, which considers form drag, as well as other axial drag components, has been shown to be quite accurate for a selected group of flat bladed rotors, particularly at higher Reynolds number flow rates. The computer simulation is useful in designing mass flow turbine rotors with special drag characteristics. (A)
