Electronic Design Automation for IC Implementation, Circuit Design, and Process Technology Chapter uri icon

abstract

  • 2016 by Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. However, two-level logic circuits are of limited importance in very large-scale integrated (VLSI) design; most designs use multiple levels of logic. An early system that was used to design multilevel circuits was logic synthesis system (LSS) [11] from IBM. It used local transformations to simplify logic. Work on LSS and the Yorktown Silicon Compiler [12] spurred rapid research progress in logic synthesis in the 1980s. Several universities contributed by making their research available to the public-most notably, MIS [13] from the University of California, Berkeley, and BOLD [14] from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Within a decade, the technology migrated to commercial logic synthesis products oered by electronic design automation companies.
