This paper is presenting the use of ultrasonic waves as one such method. For this purpose the paper looks at the experimental application of ultrasonic waves for various damage removal situations, such as damages caused by asphaltenes deposition, paraffins and mud invasion. It examines the asphaltene chemistry and deposition, and a review of the effects of ultrasonics on their removal and inhibition. Near wellbore damages caused by wax and paraffins as well as damage caused by mud invasion will also be discussed and the application of ultrasonic waves in the removal of such damages will be discussed. The aim of this paper is to present the possible use of ultrasonic waves as a method to remove the near wellbore damage in wells to increase the permeability and enhance the Injectivity and/or Productivity of wells.
