abstract
The theory of a correlated-emission free-electron laser is developed for the case where the electron beam is initially in a coherent superposition of two pure momentum states. A strong correlation between the two laser modes is found under certain requirements on the electron beam and the relative phase diffusion coefficient can vanish. 1987 The American Physical Society.
