abstract
The objective of this research program is to optimize the configuration of a composite driveshaft to provide reliability and dynamic stability. Computational models are used to perform parametric studies and to complement the experimental program. The shafts are tested under static and dynamic loads to obtain material, mechanical, and vibrational characteristics. In the dynamic tests, shafts with and without ballistic damage are of interest.
