abstract
A simulation of a loss-of-feedwater in a 19-tube model Babcock & Wilcox once-through steam generator was performed with TRAC-PF1 computer code. The predicted steady-state and transient behaviors were compared with the experimental data. Various nodalization schemes were employed. Satisfactory predictions were achieved when a fine discretization scheme was implemented. Nonphysical oscillations during the loss-of-feedwater transient were observed when a coarse spatial mesh was used. Acceptable results were obtained with a fine spatial mesh when the time step was limited to a maximum of 0. 05 seconds.
