A new monotone streamline upwind procedure for treating advection-dominated transport is presented for application to control volume based finite-difference formulation. The method is demonstrated by application to two test cases to assess the stability and accuracy of the proposed scheme. The procedure precludes the possibility of developing nonphysical spatial oscillations exhibited by previous methods. Moreover, significant accuracy over the conventional upwind method is obtained.
