abstract
Ethical considerations in pediatric psychosocial research make many demands on the researcher. This article defines basic concepts such as risk, risk/benefit evaluation, and consent/assent as it applies to pediatric research. The implications of these concepts to the researcher are discussed. Guidelines to protect the psychosocial aspects of the pediatric population are included.
