abstract
A new conceptual approach to controller reduction is proposed that is based upon closed-loop considerations. The new method assesses the interactions between the plant and a high order controller as described by canonical correlation coefficients. A free parameter in the algorithm of the reduced controller allows one to trade stability robustness versus performance. Several examples demonstrate the efficacy of the method. 1988 SDAIEEE
