abstract
The hydrodynamic interactions between FT (Floating Terminal) and LNGC (LNG Carrier) in side-by-side offloading arrangement as well as the dynamic coupling between the floating-body motion and inner-tank sloshing were studied by a potential-viscous hybrid method in time domain. Developed computer programs were applied to the side-by-side offloading operation between the FT and LNGC. The frequency-domain results qualitatively reproduced the coupling effects but the peaks were over-predicted compared to experimental and time-domain results. The liquid-sloshing and vessel-motion interaction effects could further be intensified in the case of multiple floating bodies. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 18th International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference (Vancouver, BC, Canada, 7/6-11/2008).
