abstract
An intelligent energy management system for parallel hybrid vehicles is developed. The essential feature of the proposed system is to access the (physical) driving situation (in terms of facility type combined with traffic congestion level) using long and short-term statistical features of the drive cycle (i.e., driving history.) The assessment is used to make decisions on the energy flow in the hybrid powertrain via torque distribution and state-of-charge compensation components. Simulation work was performed to validate the proposed system and to show its viability for energy management system of parallel hybrid vehicles.
