abstract
A method of calculating the activity coefficient fC and solubility of carbon in multicomponent iron alloys at different temperatures is presented and investigated. It is based on the best equilibrium approximations of tabular functions. From the experimental data on the solubility of carbon in melts based on iron, the equivalence factors of a number of components are found. An assumption is made regarding their temperature independence. The applicability of the presented method is evaluated.
