abstract
A consolidated core of engineering science courses is being developed to improve the undergraduate experience and to upgrade the curriculum to benefit the contemporary student. An innovative course in engineering economy, featuring improved design and economics, is an integral part of this core. A comparison between a traditionally-taught engineering economy course and an experimental engineering economy course based on the design presented by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute was carried out during the fall semester of 1993. Based on the results of the statistical analysis, the students who enrolled in the experimental course performed significantly better than the students in the traditionally-taught course.
