abstract
Technological advances, research and development frequently require in-depth literature reviews. These reviews are carried out using computerized bibliographic databases. The review and/or search process involves using key words, synonymous terms, broader concepts, narrower concepts and related concepts. This method generated a controlled and uncontrolled language thesaurus in the field of Economic Justification of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). As a consequence, significant amounts of time are required to eliminate the non-relevant citations. This paper is focused on the investigation of the feasibility and utility of information processing aids based on word association techniques to determine citation relevance. Experience has shown that this method is simple and easy to use and it identified key information sources in the field. 1990.
