Numerical Simulation of the BCD for Compaction Control Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • For compaction control, dry density and water content are the current parameters. However, there is a trend towards using the modulus as a compaction control parameter instead of dry density. The Briaud Compaction Device (BCD) is a new instrument to obtain a soil modulus in only a few seconds. The article describes some numerical simulations which were performed to validate the new instrument. Copyright ASCE 2006.
