An experimental research study of a mini-TLP Conference Paper

abstract

• An experimental research study that addressed a variety of basic and applied research issues for deepwater compliant platforms using a mini-TLP concept was recently completed. The original platform concept was designed for offshore West Africa. This design was modified for the research study to allow a wider range of wave environments to be explored. An investigation of wave environments not normally considered during industrial model test programs was performed. Of particular interest to the study was the response of the mini-TLP to annular wave fields and directional random seas. This paper summarizes and reflects upon selected aspects of these and other research findings.
