abstract
This paper deals with a repairable two-unit parallel redundant system subject to common mode failures. The system consists of two identical units, the repair facilities are unrestricted, and the down times are arbitrarily distributed. The various state probabilities as well as the long-run probability and frequency of failure are derived by employing the method of supplementary variables. A numerical example is provided whose results are compared with the outcomes of Monte Carlo simulations. 1986.
