abstract
Particle induced desorption mass spectrometry has been applied as a microchemical technique using microbeams of 84-MeV 84Kr7+. The time-of-flight mass spectrometer allows simultaneous multimass determinations of atomic, Isotopic, and molecular positive and negative Ions. Mass resolution of up to 296 was measured for masses ranging to 653 amu. In a scanning mode, the technique can resolve features 60 m In size. Qualitative scanning shows the mass spectra changing with differences in chemical composition. 1986, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
