abstract
Functional thiophene monomers were covalently introduced via ester or amide linkages into hyperbranched ultrathin polyethylene films. The grafted thiophene surfaces were characterized by ATR-IR. The yield of thiophene groups in the graft was higher with esterification than with amidation. The coupling of the functional thiophenes immobilized in the graft via oxidative polymerization led to thiophene oligomers.
