abstract
Hyperbranched grafts on polyethylene films and powders were readily prepared by a graft on graft approach. The resulting polyacid containing surfaces can be modified by acid-base chemistry and by a variety of chemistry known to be effective for carboxylic acid derivation in solution. Further, weak polyvalent interactions involving hydrogen bonding, acid base chemistry and ionic interactions are useful tools in further synthetic elaboration of these surfaces.
