Procedures and strategies for the synthesis and analysis of surface functionalized polyethylene are reviewed. Chemistry that introduces functional groups onto polyethylene surfaces, analytical procedures that can be used to characterize such surfaces and further synthetic manipulations of such functional groups are described.
