abstract

• The synthesis of acid- and base-containing dye-labeled polymers using polyacrylates and poly(maleic anhydride) copolymers was reported. The effectiveness of various extraction, absorption, crosslinking, and precipitation strategies were evaluated using dye-labeled polymers for polymer recovery using UV-Visible spectroscopy. It was found that extraction was a feasible way to effect quantitative recovery of a polymer-bound species from a separate, immiscible polar or non-polar phase.
