Synthesis and characterization of multifunctional nanocomposites of toughened epoxy reinforced with carbon nanotubes Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Toughened epoxies are widely being used in aerospace industry as a matrix material for glass, carbon and ceramic fibers. Reinforcing toughened epoxies with carbon nanotubes can provide multifunctional properties to the matrix material. However, achieveing good dispersion of nanotubes in toughened epoxy is a formidable challenge due to difficulty of processing toughened epoxy systems. This challenge has been undertaken in this study to disperse nanotubes in a toughened epoxy matrix for the purpose of providing multifunctional properties to the epoxy.
