abstract

  • Marek's disease is a highly contagious cancer-likedisease of chickens, which is of significant importance to the poultry industry. We have identified the specific proteincalled Meq, that is responsible causing disease in chicken. TheMeq proteinis modified by in the infected chickens by host enzymes. In this study we will identify how modification ofMeq protein in infected chickens will result in disease progression.Thesignificanceof the proposed research is that by better understanding how viruses cause cancer we will be able tocontrol this economically important disease of chicken.
