Dixon, L. Quentin Associate Professor

My research interests focus on the language and early literacy development of young bilingual children, effective antibias pre-service teacher education for early childhood teachers, language and education policy for equitable and culturally responsive early childhood education, and empowering English education in multicultural, multilingual and international contexts. In addition to examining oral language and literacy development among prekindergarten and kindergarten children in the U.S. and Singapore, I have investigated pre-service teachers' attitudes toward language learning and English language learning students. My latest project probes the effects of a technology-infused intervention on the writing development of young struggling readers. I am interested in examining the effects of various educational interventions for young learners and their future teachers.
