Wildlife Toxicology: Assessing Impacts of Environmental Contaminants on Birds

Over the next 5 years I will conduct investigations to assess the impacts of environmental contaminants on wild animal populations particularly birds. More specifically, I will conduct the following projects: 1) Assessing impacts of contaminants on migratory birds; 2) Investigating impacts of neonicotinoid insecticides on bobwhite quail and grassland birds; 3) assess the impacts of toxins released from microcystins and golden algae on birds; 4) conduct ecological and ecotoxicological studies in support of the recovery of endangered species; 5) assess coastal ecosystem health with birds as indicator species; and 6) assess the contribution of E coli from birds and other wildlife to watersheds.
