  • The evaluation of the impact of hemlock woolly adelgid will provide basic understanding of how herbivory by the insect affects forest succession and subsequent forest composition. The evaluation of treatment tactics for the southern pine beetle will provide an objective means for decision making related to the suppression of damage caused by the insect. The evaluation of the impact of forest management practices for the monarch butterfly will provide information needed for the conservation of this iconic insect species.
