Managers in all types of health care organizations increasingly face the task of reducing operating expenses. Typically, staffing is first to be rationalized, followed by supplies. Through the use c basic inventory management techniques, a manager can quickly prioritize inventory items and develop appropriate inventory policies to rationalize the expense associated with material management. This case study looks at the application of ABC inventory analysis and the economi order quantity model by a pediatric care center.
