Simple, lithography-free fabrication of embedded multi-scale surface features via crystallographic imprinting Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 14CBMS. We exploit the sensitivity of enzymatic activity to a biodegradable substrate's crystallinity as a vehicle to imprint complex micro- and nano-scale surface features. The imprinted features are templated exclusively by the substrate's crystallinity, the size and density of which can be precisely manipulated by changing thermal history. Scotch tape or a PDMS template may be used as a mask to localize subsequent enzymatic etching. The simplicity and robustness of our approach offer advantages for producing barrier or packing structures for filtration and chromatography.
