abstract
Mssbauer spectroscopy is a good tool to look at the transformations of iron containing species in various reactions using the frozen solution technique. This study presents the fate of iron(VI) as being reduced to iron(III) in the presence of complexing agents, glycine and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). The intermediate oxidation states, Fev and FeIV of the reaction were not seen within the time scale of sample freezing ( 5 s). The characterization of ferric species formed from FeVI reactions with glycine and EDTA was carried out. 2008 American Chemical Society.
