abstract
Health beliefs and behaviors are determined by a number of factors, including the availability, accessibility, and quality of the health care delivery system. In addition to these factors, race has been shown to be particularly relevant to how health care is delivered in America. Although it admittedly has been difficult to separate the influence of related variables, such as socioeconomic class and acculturation, the fact remains that African Americans face barriers to the attainment of adequate health services.
