abstract
Pure protocollagen proline hydroxylase was prepared from chick embryos with a new procedure involving affinity column chromatography. Rabbits were immunized with the enzyme and antisera from the rabbits were found to contain high titers of antibodies which were specific as tested by immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis. The -globulin fraction from the antisera was labeled with peroxidase and the labeled antibodies were used to localize protocollagen proline hydroxylase in matrix-free tendon cells from chick embryos. Light microscopy indicated that the enzyme was distributed in localized regions of the cytoplasm. 1972.
