abstract
One of the problems in culturing epithelial cells is that cultures of such cells are frequently overgrown by fibroblasts. We have recently made an observation which apparently provides a new technique for eliminating fibroblasts from cultures of mixed cell populations. We have tested this technique with 2 different kinds of fibroblasts and with 2 nonfibroblastic cell lines. It has also been tested with a few additional cell lines by other investigators. We have not, however, tested the procedure with epithelial cells and therefore we present the technique here only as a proposal which may be useful to investigators who are actively working with cultures of epithelial cells.
