A Millimeter-Wave Dual-Band Dual-Polarization Antenna on Liquid Crystal Polymer Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 2014 IEEE. This paper reports a new millimeter-wave concurrent dual-band dual-polarization antenna on liquid crystal polymer (LCP) for an active imaging radar sensor. The frequency diversity offered by the proposed concurrent dual-band dual-linearly polarized antenna as part of a concurrent dual-band transceiver enables an extended target recognition for a better imaging. The compact antenna presented in this paper demonstrates 250 MHz of bandwidths centered at 24.5 and 35 GHz. The calculated antenna gain are 1.4 and 2.7 dBi at 24.5 and 35 GHz, respectively, while showing the front-to-back ratio better than 20 dB at both frequency bands. The isolation between the vertical- and horizontal- polarization remain more than 25 dB over the desired bandwidths.
