abstract

  • The completion fluid is vital in petroleum production and operation. This fluid can be defined as any fluid pumped downhole to conduct operation after the initial drilling of well. As soon as the downhole equipment reaches the production scheme, the production engineers consider starting using the completion fluids designed for space. At this stage, a formulated brine is injected in the well to replace the drilling mud. A solid-free fluid is required to ease the circulation process and separation of yields acquired during the production phase. As predicted, different kinds of corrosions are prevalent in all parts of the oil and gas drilling and production operation, topping the most foreseeable problem in the entire sector. Corrosion is the natural and continuous degradation of materials caused by either chemical, mechanical, and or electrochemical reaction. To address this, corrosion inhibitors may be added to the completion fluids. The process of inhibiting the corrosion assists advantageously the company on both monetary profits and safety of operators. The corrosion inhibitors create a wall seal providing internal protection. Through this, the operator can reduce pressure losses, and overall leaks from tubing, casing, packers, plugs, and gas-lifted wells. This leads to a more cost-effective and efficient production. The steel pipe to have a metal surface which has the absorption presence for the inhibitors used. The projected capability of film covering the skin is evident. Before the application of corrosion inhibitors, corrosion engineers should determine the actual status of the problem. The magnitude of the solution will depend on how critical the state is. In aide, different approaches have been developed to accommodate all factors affecting the shape of the situation. One of the most important factors to consider is the compatibility of the materials used for corrosion inhibition. The degradation of the affectivity of one product is a common obstacle that requires full understanding. In the area of corrosion control, one important example is the interference of oilfield chemicals on corrosion inhibitor effectivity. The prequalification of chemical compatibility is vital to consider the constant consumption of it. Predominantly, it is a requisite to systematically select all possible components of incompatibility. Chemical incompatibility can result in the formation of solids, gels, and deposits that can plug injection lines and valves or reduce product effectivity. Therefore, the treatment using the chemical corrosion inhibitors should be aligned with its compatibility to the fluids used. Additionally, careful monitoring at all times the corrosion rates along with contaminants and necessary controls optimizes the concentration required. To comply, the chemical structure of the additives should be less to non-reactive to other components to ensure compatibility.
