Addiction neuroscience goes nuclear: A role for the transcription factor RXR. uri icon

abstract

  • Building on work defining the cocaine-modulated transcriptional landscape in mice, Godino and colleagues focus in this issue of Neuron1 on the role of a specific nuclear receptor, RXR. Results demonstrate that modifying accumbens RXR expression profoundly alters gene transcription, neuronal activity, and cocaine-induced behavioral responses.
