The law permeates nearly every aspect of our lives. Therefore, it is important to have a working understanding of the legal system. This essay provides a basic understanding of the U.S. legal system as a primer for an entry-level Legal Environment of Business course. This essay covers pragmatic aspects of the law that are often overlooked such as how there often are no winners at trial and one is therefore better off avoiding a trail altogether rather than "winning" at trial.
