abstract
A triple-band patch antenna of compact design has been introduced which can be used in several wireless communication systems such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi and Wireless Universal Serial Bus (WUSB) Technology. The antenna has a small dimension of 30 mm 20 mm 2.3 mm. The operating frequencies are 2.45 GHz and 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band and 9.9 GHz Ultra-wideband (UWB) with VSWR value of 1.34, 1.12 and 1.01. The simulated bandwidths are 460 MHz, 490 MHz and 550 MHz in the first, middle and third band respectively. The corresponding radiation efficiencies are 75%, 65% and 60%. The antenna has omnidirectional radiation patterns. It has an average gain of +1.65 dB at 2.45 GHz and +0.86 dB at 5 GHz and +2.70 dB at 9.9 GHz operating band. This miniaturized antenna offers considerably wider bandwidth at all the three operating bands with greater radiation efficiencies which consequently makes this antenna unprecedented in its own application fields.
